4 c flour
1 t salt
1 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t nutmeg
2 c rolled oats
1 t salt

1 1/3 c chopped walnuts
1 c raising
1 1/3 c shortening
1 1/2 c brown sugar
4 eggs
1/2 c dark molasses
1/4 c hot water
1 c raising
1 1/3 c shortening
1 1/2 c brown sugar

1/4 c hot water
Sift flour, measure and sift again with
dry ingredients.
Add oats and nuts to flour mixture.
In large bowl cream shortening and sugar
thoroughly.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Add hot water to molasses and then stir into above mixture.
Mix in sifted flour mixture.
Drop heaping teaspoon-full of cookie mixture onto greased baking
sheet.
Bake 400 degree oven about 10 min.
Makes 3 doz large cookies.
